About Chilliwack

The Township of Chilliwack was incorporated in 1873. Chilliwack Landing was where the initial settlement occurred along the Fraser River, a passageway many gold miners trekked through while headed to the minefields.

Chilliwack is located 100 KM to the southeast of Vancouver. Chilliwack is split by Hwy 1 into the North Side and South Side. On the North side you will find Downtown Chilliwack the historical urban centre of the city. The following communities are on the north side: Chilliwack Mountain, Downtown Chilliwack, East Chilliwack, Fairfield Island, Rosedale and Popkum. You have several cultural attractions including Prospera Centre and Chilliwack Cultural Centre. On the South Side you will find Atchelitx, Cultus Lake Park, Greendale, Ryder Lake, Sardis, Promontory Heights, Vedder Crossing and Yarrow. In Sardis you will find most of the shopping places in Chilliwack. South Side has had a lot of new residential development over the past few years.

Chilliwack is home to many farms and great hiking trails. One of the go to summer attractions in BC, Cultus Lake and Cultus Lake Waterpark are in Chilliwack
